Guildford Library

Guildford library now reopen with a click and collect service only. During the click and collect period, customers will still be able to borrow books in two ways:

• Ready Reads (free of charge) – our libraries team will select a collection of books based on your reading preferences for you to collect from Guildford Library. Please note that some restrictions will apply to the range of titles available. The online form will be available from Monday 14 September. • Library reservations: you can continue to reserve specific items through our usual reservations service. Standard reservation charges will apply.
• Customers will also be able to return items and collect reservations during the click and collect period.

Unfortunately, public computers, photocopying facilities, bus pass services and all other library services will be unavailable until the library fully reopens.

We expect the library to be fully reopened by the end of October and will keep customers updated on the progress.

Throughout the closure, events and activities will be unable to take place at the library. A number of our events including rhymetime will be held at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, outlined below:

• Rhymetime and storytime: Wednesdays at 10.30am in the River Room
• Poetry Hub: Thursdays at 10am in the Meeting Room
• Warhammer club: last Saturday of the month at 3pm in the River Room
• Dungeons and Dragons club: second  Saturday of the month at 2.30pm in the River or Vanbrugh Room.

Throughout this closure, customers can use any one of our other Surrey libraries including the nearest libraries which are Ash, Godalming, Horsley and Woking libraries.

All loans will be extended until Monday 10 November, so no fines will be incurred.

All of our libraries are closed on bank holidays. Check libraries affected by bad weather.

The library is on four floors with the ground floor on three levels linked by ramps and there is a wheelchair accessible lift between floors.

The library has a automatic doors and a hearing loop is installed. It has assistive technology for people with disabilities. Please see: Library services for people with disabilities, for further information.

There are several nearby pay and display multi-storey car parks in the town centre and some pay and display short stay on-street parking further down North Street. There are two disabled spaces outside the front of the library.

The Guildford Library of Things is a partnership between Surrey Library Service, Active Surrey and Zero Carbon Guildford. There is a special Fit Kit collection, with a variety of sports and exercise equipment that people can borrow for free, including cricket and rounder sets, walking poles and a boccia kit. Surrey Libraries have secured funding as part of a successful National Lottery bid led by Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP) to deliver Green Library Hubs across the UK.

Guildford Library aims to foster climate-conscious communities and provide trusted environmental information aligned with the council’s sustainability strategy.

As a Green Library Hub, Guildford Library will host key events such as children's workshops and adult talks encouraging climate action and supporting the local economy.
