See: contacting the library service

You can visit any Surrey library to renew your items.

You will need your library card. If you have the library app on your phone you can use its library card function instead.

We can send you an eReminder email three days before your items are due back. This will give you the full details of all the items that are due as well as a quick link to renew them online. You will need your PIN to use this link.

To sign up to receive eReminder emails all you need to do is let us know and make sure that we have your current email address.

You can do this in any library or by contacting us. You will need to tell us your full name and library card number.

Important: eReminders are sent as a courtesy service only. If you do not receive an eReminder for any reason – for example, if it has been blocked by your email provider or moved to your spam folder – any overdue charges incurred will still apply.

Some items cannot be renewed. This may be because:

  • the item has been reserved by another customer or;
  • you have reached the renewal limit

You will not see an option to renew on the individual item, and it will appear in a section called 'loans not available to renew' in the 'renew all' menu.

Books

As long as a book has not been requested by another user, it may be renewed five times.

Audiobooks, CDs and DVDs

Audiobooks, CDs and DVDs are lent for a charge. They cannot be renewed. If you keep them beyond their due date, you must pay an additional charge. See the charges for audio visual items.

  • Spoken word CDs (audiobooks) are issued for three weeks.
  • DVDs and Music CDs are issued for one week.

If you return items late, you will usually have to pay a charge.

Charges for overdue library books can be found on the library and services charges page.

Overdue audiobooks, CDs and DVDs incur an additional charge. See the charges for audio visual items.
