Foster Care fortnight: Pop-up stand

Could fostering be your next chapter? To celebrate Foster Care Fortnight, we are hosting ‘Local Libraries, Local Care’ drop-in sessions in Surrey libraries. To find out what fostering is all about, come and visit our stand.

Half term crafternoon: Make and fly your own kite

Wednesday 27 May, 2.30pm to 3.30pm.

Suitable for ages 5+. Cost: £1.50 per child.

No need to book, just drop in.

Active storytime for Garden Wildlife Week

Thursday 28 May, 10.30am to 11am.

Listen to a story and have fun with a simple craft or colouring.

Free event for under fives, no need to book.

National Crime Reading Month: An evening with William Shaw and Graham Bartlett

Thursday 11 June, from 7pm to 8pm.

Join acclaimed crime writers William Shaw and Graham Bartlett for an engaging evening of conversation about crime writing, policing, and the stories behind their bestselling novels.

William Shaw is the author of several critically acclaimed crime series, including the Alex Cupidi novels, and is known for his atmospheric storytelling and richly drawn characters.

Graham Bartlett is a former senior police officer turned bestselling crime novelist, celebrated for bringing authentic police procedure and real‑world experience to his fiction.

Together, they will discuss their writing journeys, the realities behind fictional crime, and how real policing experience and research shape compelling crime novels.

There will be an opportunity for audience questions, and copies of their books will be available to buy on the evening.

Suitable for Adults.

Booking necessary. Cost: £6 per person.

  • 27 May, from 12 noon to 1pm (time change for this week only): Nutrition and hydration
  • 3 June: Support with personal care
  • 10 June: Carer Wellbeing
  • 24 June: Financial advice
  • 1 July: Advanced dementia care
  • 8 July: Technology enabled care (TEC)

Rhymetime and storytime

Pebble rhymetime

Every Friday at 10.30am.

Spaces are limited, tickets are available in library on the day from 10am.

Pebble's storytime

Every Thursday during term time, from 2.15pm to 2.45pm. Stories, songs and Duplo play.

Suitable for children aged under 5. No booking necessary. Sessions free.

Crafty storytime

Various Saturdays from 10.15am to 10.45am.

Suitable for ages for ages 2 to 5.

Cost £1 per child. No need to book. Simply drop in. Upcoming sessions dates and themes:

Reading groups

Super Access book group

Last Tuesday of every month, from 7pm to 8pm.

Meet up and catch up - Sensory Services by Sight for Surrey

Session will be held monthly on Wednesdays between 10am to 12 noon. Upcoming dates for 2026:

Join Sight for Surrey with our new informal meet ups. Supporting people who are blind, vision impaired, deaf, deafblind and hard of hearing.

Lego club

Every Wednesday from 3.45pm until 4.30pm during term time only.

Suitable for ages Age 4+.

Cost: £1.25 per child, per session.

No drop ins. Please book to avoid disappointment.

Booking opens for next half term on Tuesday 14 April at 9.30am.

Last Wednesday of the month from 10.30am to 12 noon.

Free of charge. Bring your own project to work on or just come for a chat!

Meet the Beat

Come and meet your local community officer and chat about issues of concern, receive crime prevention advice or just pop in and say hello.

Every Thursday from 10am to 1pm.

Do you want help using a computer, the internet, your iPad, tablet or iPhone, or other IT related problems?

Our Digital Support Volunteer is available to help you on, please book your appointment in the library or by emailing oxted.library@surreycc.gov.uk.
