May half term events
Make and take: wall bug craft
Saturday 23 May, Drop-in from 10am to 4pm.
This May half term, join us for a fun and creative craft session where kids can make their very own paper “Wall Bugs”, colourful insect specimens made from old picture books, perfect for decorating their walls!
Cost: £2 per child. All materials provided
No need to book, just drop in and create something buggy and beautiful!
Gruffalo storytime
Tuesday 26 May, from 11am to 12 noon..
Join us at Haslemere Library for a special Gruffalo Story and Craft Time. We will read “The Gruffalo” by Julia Donaldson, then get crafty, making a Gruffalo themes craft to take home!
Perfect for children aged 3 to 7.
Cost: £1 per child.
No booking required, just like Rhymetime, we will hand out tickets at the door on the day. First come, first served!
This event is in support of the National Year of Reading.
Holiday drop-in Lego club
Wednesday 27 May. Drop-in from 10am to 4pm.
We are extending Lego Club for Half Term!
Cost: £1 per child (No need to book, just drop in!)
Suitable for ages 5+ (Duplo is available for younger siblings).
A note to parents/guardians: While your child creates in the LEGO room, you must stay on the library premises.

Critters in crisis: A David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation workshop
Thursday 28 May, from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
We are excited to be hosting another Children's Wildlife Conservation Workshop with The David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation.
Learn about the impact of climate change on animal conservation and create a paper animal collage to take home!
This is a free event however, please consider leaving a small donation on the day to help the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation continue their amazing work!

Buzz into creativity this May half term with our adorable Yarn Bugs craft session. We will be making cute little bugs using yarn, toilet rolls and googly eyes!
Cost: £1.50 per child.
No need to book, just drop in and get creative!
Game concept design workshop: No computers, just creativity!
Saturday 30 May, from 2pm to 3.30pm.
Got a child who loves video games? What if they could invent their own without touching a computer?
Join us on for a hands‑on workshop designed especially for ages 8 to 12.
This session is all about creative thinking and game idea development, using guided worksheets and good old‑fashioned imagination.
Children will:
- Design their own game world on paper
- Create characters, obstacles and gameplay goals
- Have the option to submit their concept to the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Young Games Designers Awards
There will be no screens or coding involved, this is purely about designing the concept of a game.
This event is free, with a suggested donation of £2 per child to support future creative workshops.

Kids coding workshops: Design your own game with Python
Have you ever dreamed of designing your own video game? Our Kids Coding Workshops give young people the chance to explore game design and coding using Python in a friendly, supportive environment.
These workshops are suitable for children aged 8 to 14, whether they are complete beginners or already have some experience with coding. Each session is designed so children work on projects at their own pace, with individual support provided based on their skill level.
Fridays from 2pm to 3pm on the following dates:
- 5 June
- 12 June
- 19 June
- 26 June
Suggested donation of £1 per session.
Children do not need to attend every session. Each workshop works as a standalone session, and participants can come to as many or as few as they like.
What the sessions cover:
- Learn the basics of Python coding
- Create simple games and interactive projects
- Develop and expand existing coding skills
- Work independently or build on previous ideas
- Gain support tailored to their experience level
What to bring:
- A laptop or computer, if possible. If you don’t have a device, please speak to a member of staff about borrowing a library laptop. Please note: library laptops are for on‑site use only, so projects cannot be taken home to work on.

Great Big Green Week, 6 to 14 June
Welcome to Great Big Green Week 2026, where more than a million people will come together from 6 to 14 June to take action for their communities, for nature and for the climate.
Together for good, we can make our neighbourhoods better places to live, protect the natural world we love and show politicians and decision makers that people across the UK want positive change.
Visible mending for beginners
Saturday 6 June from 2pm to 4pm.
Repair instead of replace, and make it beautiful. a relaxed, hands‑on workshop introducing the basics of visible mending. Learn simple hand‑sewing techniques to repair clothes in a creative way, helping garments last longer and reducing textile waste.
This session is beginner‑friendly and suitable for adults with little or no sewing experience. Bring along a garment to mend if you wish, or practise on provided materials.

Green Week game time
Tuesday 9 and Thursday 11 June, drop in anytime 10am to 4pm.
This Great Big Green Week we’re bringing the outdoors in with a fun, family-friendly event! We’ll have some of our Library of Things garden games out to play with, including ring toss, tumble blocks and four-in-a-row (Connect Four).
Come along during Great Big Green Week for a playful day at the library, discover the Library of Things, and celebrate all things green!
Cardboard junk modelling for kids
Saturday 13 June, drop-in between 1pm and 4pm.
Using recycled cardboard and child‑safe Makedo tools, children can design and build their own junk model creations to take home, from spaceships and castles to completely original ideas.
Perfect for younger children and families. Stay as long or as little as you like, there’s no need to book.
Tickets are £1 per child, suitable for ages 5 years and over. No booking required.

Chatterbooks reading group
One Saturday a month from 11.10am until 11.50am. Please check with the branch for the next session date.

Lego club
Every Wednesday from 3.30pm to 4.30pm.

Stay and play baby and toddler group
Join us every Friday morning from 10am to 11am for a fun and relaxed baby and toddler group for ages 0 to 3.
What to Expect:
- A welcoming space for little ones to play, explore, and socialize.
- Free tea and coffee for parents and carers.
- A chance to connect with other families in the community.
This is a free, drop-in group, no need to book, just come along and enjoy some quality time with your little one! We cannot wait to see you and your tiny tots.
Sketch club
Second Friday of every month, from 1.30pm to 2.30pm.
Come for a relaxing afternoon of doodling, sketching, and creativity. Bring your favourite drawing materials and let your imagination take the lead. Whether you're a seasoned artist or just enjoy a good doodle, Sketch Club is the perfect place to connect with fellow creatives and share your passion.
No need to book or pay, just drop in, draw, and enjoy! Free tea and coffee provided.
