Volunteers needed

Godalming Library is looking for volunteers to help run the weekly Rhymetime session. Our Pebble rhymetime sessions are aimed at babies and toddlers, along with their mums, dads and carers. The events are fun, interactive and noisy!

Special events

Pinball Machine Science Workshop

  • Wednesday 27 July from 2.30pm unitl 3.30pm

Be your own pinball wizard and design your very own pinball machine with everyday materials.

Suitable for ages 6+. Booking is necessary as spaces are limited: tickets cost £3 per child and must be booked in advance from the library or by emailing godalming.library@surreycc.gov.uk

Godalming Activity trail

  • Saturday 28 May until Sunday 4 September

Pick up an activity sheet and map from Godalming Library and follow it to explore Godalming. The trail will take you along by the river, up Church street and end at the Pepperpot.

Godalming library are working in collaboration with A Line Art. You can obtain a digital copy of the Godalming Family Activity Trail map from the A Line Art website.

Summer Reading Challenge events

Enjoy all the fun of the fair with our Gadgeteer inspired events this summer!

Hook a duck craft event

  • Tuesday 2 August from 2.30pm until 3.30pm.

Come and make your very own hook a duck game. How may ducks can you catch?

Animal ring toss craft

  • Tuesday 16 August from 2.30pm until 3.30pm.

Roll up, Roll up, and make your very own animal ring toss game to take away and play at home. What animals will you choose to make?

Catapult and Trebuchet science workshop

  • Wednesday 24 August from 2.30pm until 3.30pm.

Harness your creativity and science skills to engineer like the Ancient Greeks.

Mini golf craft event

  • Friday 26 August from 2.30pm until 3.30pm.

Come and make your very own mini golf game. Can you score a hole in one?

Godalming staycation

An annual programme of events organised by the Godalming Town Council. This year the staycation takes place between 6 August and 14 August. Godalming library will be holding the craft events below in support of the programme.

An introduction to book folding craft event

  • Tuesday 9 August. Two sessions:
    • Session 1 from 2.15pm until 4.15pm.
    • Session 2 from 4.30pm until 6.30pm.

What do you do with an old book? Upcycle it into something new!

We will provide all materials and instructions for you. We have a range of different book folding patterns available, from a beginner's heart to a more complicated butterfly. We even have a children's hedgehog pattern suitable for ages 8+.

Fold your Town drop in craft event

  • Wednesday 10 August from 11am until 3pm.

You and your family are invited to create a large paper model town inspired by your local area and community of Godalming. There is an activity pack with templates to get you started or you can use your imagination to bring local landmarks to life.

Why not come and design a Gadgeteers inspired building and sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge at the same time! The challenge will launch on the 9 July 2022.

Godalming library are working in collaboration with A Line Art. You can obtain the activity pack from the A Line Art website and make up your models in advance, or come along to the library where we will have materials for you to make up your designs on the day.

Animal puppet making craft event

  • Friday 12 August from 10.30am until 11.30am.

Come along and make moving animal puppets. You can choose to make whatever animal you would like, and all materials are provided. Suitable for ages 3+.

  • Meets on the first Thursday of the month, from 2pm until 3pm.

Hearing Aid Clinic

The Hearing Aid Clinic is returning to Godalming Library. The clinic will allow for routine maintenance of your hearing aid. No booking is required.

  • 3rd Monday of the month from 10.30am until 12.30pm, on the following dates:
    • 18 July
    • 15 August
    • 19 September
    • 17 October
    • 21 November
    • 19 December.

Knit and stitch craft group

  • alternate Mondays, from 2.30pm until 4pm. Upcoming dates:
    • 4 July
    • 18 July
    • 1 August
    • 15 August

Join us at Godalming Library on alternate Monday afternoons (excluding bank holidays). Bring your own craft project to work on and meet new people. Open to everyone and all crafts are welcome!

Board games day

  • Every Saturday from 12 noon until 4.30pm

Open to all ages. Bring your own game or try something new from our collection. No booking required.

Digital Buddy

Free, one to one, 45 minute computer help sessions.

Appointments are available on:

  • Mondays at 10am, 10.45am and 11.30am.
  • Fridays at 2pm, 2.45pm and 3.30pm.
