Drop in crafts
Take part in these fun drop in crafts during the autumn half term at Godalming Library:
- Monday 19 October at 11am: Origami Cats. Cost: 50p per child.
- Friday 23 October at 11am: Autumn Notebooks Cost: £1.50 per child.
- Monday 26 October at 11am: Paper Pumpkins. Cost £1per child.
- Wednesday 28 October at 2.30pm: Pine Cone Bats. Cost £1per child.
- Thursday 29 October at 2.30pm: Spooky Puppet Workshop. Cost £1per child.
- Friday 30 October at 11am: Witches and Wizards. Cost £1per child.
Author storytime takeover with Jemima Hunter
Wednesday 21 October at 11am.
Join The Leopard and the Lemon Meringue Pie author, Jemima Hunter, for a special reading of her newly published children’s picture book. The story follows Lofty the leopard as he sets off through the jungle to find everything he needs to bake his mum’s favourite lemon meringue pie.
The reading will be followed by colouring activities featuring Lofty and other favourite characters from the story, with copies of the book available for purchase.
Suitable for ages 3+.
Make a marble run with GraviTrax
Thursday 22 October, from 2pm to 3pm.
Take part in our Marble Run Workshop and let your imagination run wild. Use your engineering skills to see what you can build and compare your creation to other teams. A great teambuilding and problem solving experience. Use different track structures to build a 3D marble maze and test your creations!
For ages 8 to 14. Free to attend but donations welcome.
Ozobots
Wednesday 21 October, drop in from 2pm to 4pm.
Come and have a go with these mini robots. Learn basic coding as the Ozobots use sensors to follow lines and read colour codes.
Suitable for all ages.

Coding taster session
Saturday 31 October, 2.30pm to 3.30pm.
Code your own game in scratch.
Suitable for ages 7 to 10.
Suggested donation £4.

Comic drawing workshop
Friday 30 October, from 2.30pm to 3.30pm.
Join us for a fun art workshop to learn to design a comic strip. In the workshop you will have the chance to think about a simple storyline for your comic strip as well as learning to make some characters and drawing them to make a complete comic strip design.
For ages 8 to 12. Tickets cost £4 per child.

Wildlife walk with What Next
Wednesday 28 October, from 10.30am to 11.30am.
Join What Next for a walk on the Godalming Lammas Lands to explore the many insects, mammals and amphibians and plants that can be found there.
For adults and children aged 8+. Donations welcome.

Road safety event
Wednesday 28 October, from 10am to 11am.
Surrey Fire and Rescue will be at Godalming Library delivering a Road Safety Event for children and families with fun activities for everyone to get involved.
Come and learn some key safety messages and find out more about the important work the Fire Service do!
Surrey Wildlife Trust drop in
Tuesday 27 October, from 1pm to 4pm.
Come along and learn more about Surrey Wildlife Trust and:
- Have a go at being a Wildlife Detective
- Make your own Footprint identity document (ID) card to take home
- Find out more about how to take Action for Nature!
Introduction to sewing
Make a tote bag
Friday 23 October, from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.
You will learn how to make a basic tote bag in calico cotton fabric and have the opportunity to decorate it with applique. All materials provided.
Suitable for ages 12+ and adults.

Make a lavender bag
Saturday 14 November, from 2.30pm to 4pm.
You will learn how to make a lined lavender bag and have the opportunity to decorate it with a variety of different embellishments. All materials provided

Lino printing
Friday 20 November, from 2.30pm to 4pm.
Make your own Christmas card (or not). All materials provided. Drawing experience not required as we have templates.
Suitable for ages 16+.

Stick weaving
Saturday 28 November, from 2.30pm to 4pm.
Use tree branches as a frame to make a statement colourful weaving. All materials provided.

Christmas craft fair
Saturday 5 December, from 10am to 4pm.
Visit Godalming Library and get into the holiday spirit. Find one-of-a-kind gifts for your loved ones at our festive market and explore a wonderful selection of handmade crafts from local artists and independent makers. Discover festive treats, candles, jewellery and more with free entry and activities to keep the children entertained!

The Chatterbooks reading group is suitable for ages 8 to 10 years.

Hearing Aid clinic
Third Monday of the month from 10.30am until 12.30pm, on the following dates:
- 21 September
- 19 October
- 16 November
- 21 December
The Hearing Aid Clinic is provided by National Health Service (NHS) trained volunteers. Free hearing aid maintenance, battery changes and advice. NHS supplied hearing aids only. No booking is required.
Knit and stitch
Alternate Monday afternoons from 2pm.
Bring your own craft project to work on and meet new people. Open to everyone and all crafts are welcome!

French conversation group
Meets on the third Wednesday of the month from 2pm to 3pm. All Welcome!
Godalming library Reading Friends poetry group
Third Thursday of the month at 2pm and have the following themes planned:
- 15 October: Autumn
- 19 November: Roads, Paths, Tracks and Lanes
- 17 December: Shopping
Godalming Library invites you to join our friendly and informal Poetry Group.
No specialist knowledge is required, just an interest in sharing our enjoyment of poetry. We will be reading some poetry and talking about the poems and poets we love.
You can express an interest in joining the Godalming library Reading Friends poetry group by completing our Reading friends participant application form.

German conversation group
Meets on the last Friday of the month from 10.30am until 11.30am. This group is now full. Please contact the library to be added to the waiting list.
Scrabble club
First and third Fridays of the Month at 2pm.
- Scrabble Club is taking a break over the school holidays but will resume on Friday 18 September.
- No session on Friday 6 November 2026.

Adult creative writing group
Monthly on Saturdays at 2.30pm.

Develop your creative skills and meet like minded writing enthusiasts at the Godalming library creative writing group. All skill levels will be welcome.

Free, one to one, 45 minute computer help sessions.
Appointments are available on:
- Mondays at 10am, 10.45am and 11.30am.
- Fridays at 2pm, 2.45pm and 3.30pm.
