Special events

Science poster competition

  • Competition runs from Saturday 10 February to Saturday 16 March 2024

Do you love science? Do you want to learn about the world around us? Design a science poster to celebrate British Science Week with Godalming Library. All entries will receive a sticker!

The best entries will be displayed in the children's library and there will be a prize for the winner.

Young game designer workshop

  • Saturday 9 March, from 2.30pm to 4pm.

Join us for a games concept workshop to help you think about the story for your perfect game, generate ideas, and share some great resources from the video game industry.

This workshop has been provided by BAFTA. Please see BAFTA Young Game Designers for more information.

For ages 10 to 14 years old. Event free but donations welcomed.

World Book Day activities

World Book Day craft

  • Saturday 2 March from 2.30pm until 3.30pm

We will be making book character masks and headbands for World Book Day. Do you love the Gruffalo or perhaps prefer The Cat in the Hat? Would you like to be a pirate for the day or maybe the Very Hungry Caterpillar?

For ages 4 years old and over.

Make a bookmark

  • Monday 4 March to Friday 8 March

Drop in to Godalming Library after school and make a bookmark for World Book Day. We have some special bookmarks to colour so come and pick your favourite design!

Special storytime

  • Wednesday 6 March at 11am

Special World Book Day Gruffalo Storytime. We will have a special interactive Gruffalo and other Julia Donaldson stories as well as some extra Gruffalo activities. No need to book, just drop in.

Mothers Day crafts

  • Saturday 9 March from 2.30pm until 3.30pm

Make a special Mothers Day card.

British Science week

Make and Solar System model and learn about the order of the planets

  • Tuesday 12 March, from 4.30pm to 5.30pm

Join us for a special science workshop for British Science Week. We will be making a moving model of the solar system and learning the order of the planets. Do you know the names of all 8 planets? Why not come to our workshop and find out!

Suitable for ages 6 to 10.

Special science themed storytime

  • Wednesday 13 March at 11am

There will also be a special science themed game at the end of the session!

Easter Crafts

  • Saturday 23 March from 2.30pm until 3.30pm

Hop along to Godalming library and create some egg-cellent Easter headbands.

Eggs for Easter: A drawing workshop with local author and illustrator Susie Darnton

  • Session 1: Wednesday 3 April from 2.30pm until 3.30pm
  • Session 2: Friday 5 April from 10.30am until 11.30am

We will be exploring the art technique Chiaroscuro. Developing light and shade in pencil drawing this workshop aims to refine the control of tone in pencil drawings, enabling you to make objects look more solid and convincing.

Hearing Aid clinic

The Hearing Aid Clinic is returning to Godalming Library. The clinic will allow for routine maintenance of your hearing aid. No booking is required.

Dungeons and Dragons

  • Every Tuesday during term time from 4pm to 6pm. New term starts on Tuesday 20 February for 6 weeks. For ages 10 to 14. Cost is £10 per session paid by the term.

Join the Wayfarer's League on a new adventure at Godalming Library as our Dungeon Masters guide you through character creation and learning the joys of tabletop roleplaying. You will then venture forth with your newly made character, along with your party members on a grand adventure!

Dice, Character sheets and all materials are provided.

For ages 10 to 14.

Cost: £10 per session, paid by the term (£60).

Spaces are limited so booking necessary.

Knit and stitch craft group

  • alternate Mondays, from 2.30pm until 4pm. Upcoming dates:
    • 4 March
    • 18 March

Join us at Godalming Library on alternate Monday afternoons (excluding bank holidays). Bring your own craft project to work on and meet new people. Open to everyone and all crafts are welcome!

What next? Wednesdays

Local charity What Next? will be in Godalming Library offering eco advice, information and support. Come and chat to one of their volunteers, share your thoughts and concerns.

What Next? wardrobe warriors

  • second Wednesday of every month from 3pm to 5pm. starting on Wednesday 14 February 2024.

We will help you keep your favourite, comfy clothes going for longer. We can be company whilst you sew on a button or put up a hem. We will have needles, thread in a few colours, a sewing machine and some people who can sew. Bring your buttonless tops, your toeless socks and your holey frocks.

Godalming library Reading Friends poetry group

Godalming Library invites you to join our friendly and informal Poetry Group.

Free, one to one, 45 minute computer help sessions.
