Summer Reading Challenge
Saturday 5 July to Saturday 13 September.
If you want to ensure your child continues their reading journey over the summer holidays then look no further than the Summer Reading Challenge.
The theme this year is ‘Story Garden – Adventures in Nature and the Great Outdoors’. This exciting new theme will inspire children to tap into a world of imagination through reading, exploring the magical connection between storytelling and nature.

Tuesday 5 August at 2.30pm
We will be making a Woodland Crown. Cost per child £2. Suitable for children up to 8 years.

The Story Detectives
Thursday 14 August, from 10.30am to 11.30am.
The Story Detectives, created by Made by Katie Green is an interactive dance adventure to find the Most Important Story and we are very excited to let you know it will be returning to 4 of our libraries during the summer.
Are you brave? Ready for adventure? Fabulous at finding letters? Then why not join Story Detectives, Playful and Particular, as they journey round your local library collecting letters, solving clues, and building an adventure story.
It will take children and their families on an imaginative journey through the library to discover different kinds of books, from a detective book to an adventure book, a dictionary to a fairy tale. It is aimed at children 3+ years and their grownups, however all children are welcome!
Spaces are limited so booking is essential.

Reading groups
Chatterbooks children's reading group
Meets every 4 to 6 weeks.
For children aged 8 to 11 years. For more details, please ask a member of staff in the library.

Other events
Art and drawing club for adults
Every Wednesday 10.30am to 12 noon.
Think you cannot draw but enjoy some doodling ? Have a go at drawing with us! All levels are welcome and we offer a light, airy atmosphere to discover the artist within you here at Esher Library.
Light refreshments will be available.
Please note: The art and drawing club is currently full. Please speak to a member of staff if you are interested in joining the club.
Esher library from time to time run other art and drawing related one off events so keep an eye out for these.
Poetry hub
Meets fortnightly on a Thursday at 2pm. Upcoming dates:

Offering interactive sessions, readings, poetry writing, in a fun, relaxed, community-focused, encouraging environment.
Sessions are free and no booking required. All ages are welcome.
