Surrey History Centre in Woking collects and preserves the records of Surrey's past and present, documenting the story of the county and its people from the 12th century to the 21st century. Visiting the centre to use our collections is free, staff are always happy to offer advice, and we have a busy programme of exhibitions, talks and events.

We are pleased to welcome visitors for pre-booked access to our unique collections. We are now open 4 days a week (Tuesday to Friday), with both morning and afternoon sessions. We are also open on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month. Please note that the searchroom is closed to the public at lunchtime (12.45pm to 1.45pm on weekdays; 1pm to 1.45pm on Saturdays).

We are continuing to take precautions to protect you, other visitors, and our staff, and ask for your support in this. We recommend that face coverings continue to be worn by people visiting us.

  • Tuesday: 9.30am to 12.45pm and 1.45pm to 5pm
  • Wednesday: 10am to 12.45pm and 1.45pm to 5pm
  • Thursday: 9.30am to 12.45pm and 1.45pm to 5pm
  • Friday: 9.30am to 12.45pm and 1.45pm to 5pm
  • Saturday: Second and fourth Saturdays of the month, 9.30am to 1pm and 1.45pm to 4.15pm
  • Sunday: closed
