Bridleways 22 (Dorking and Mickleham) and 62a (Leatherhead) temporary closure

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Sections 14(1) & (2)
The Surrey County Council
Public Bridleway Nos. 22 (Dorking and Mickleham) and 62A (Leatherhead) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024

The Surrey County Council Public Bridleway Nos. 22 (Dorking and Mickleham) and 62A (Leatherhead) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024 was made on the grounds of public safety due to the need to carry out works on diseased ash trees. The Order came into operation on 9 January 2024. It was due to expire on 9 July 2024 but has now been continued in force by the Secretary of State for Transport until 9 April 2025 or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier.

The Order as continued prohibits all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding in that length of Public Bridleway Nos. 22 (Dorking and Mickleham) and 62A (Leatherhead) which run from Crabtree Lane (Grid Reference 515838 152436) generally north for 1460 metres into Norbury Park.

The prohibition described above will only be operative while the County Council, or an authorised person acting on its behalf, displays signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2002 (S.I. 2002 No. 3113) prohibiting the said movements. Access to properties will not be affected.

The alternative route from the southern end of the closure is to proceed west on Crabtree Lane, turn north on bridleway No. 23 Dorking which becomes bridleway No. 106 Leatherhead, then turn generally east on unrecorded paths within Norbury Park.

The alternative route for traffic from the northern end of the closure is the reverse of the route described above.
