Volunteer at Tice's Meadow

Come and join our rangers and volunteer at Tice's Meadow near Farnham. Tasks might include; clearing vegetation, maintaining paths, fence and gate repairs, habitat management, wildlife surveys and more. We have volunteer sessions running on the following dates:

  • Date: Friday 24 July
  • Place: Tice's Meadow. Please meet at Horton's Mound which is shown on our interpretation boards around the site.
  • Time: 10am to 2pm

Tice’s Meadow Welcome Day

Drop in and meet the teams who look after Tice’s Meadow, and discover the many ways this special place is cared for and enjoyed. Come and chat to local partners from Surrey County Council Countryside and Tree Planting, Surrey Bird Club, Surrey Bat Group and Surrey Fire and Rescue. You can also join a bird walk led by the Tice’s Meadow Bird Group, meet Dibby & Lenny the sheep, or explore the local biodiversity as the river fly survey team do river dipping.

  • Date: Saturday 25 July
  • Place: Tice's Meadow. All activities take place at The Mound which is shown on our interpretation boards around the site.
  • Time: 10am to 2pm
  • Event schedule:
    • 10am to 12pm River Dipping Demonstration
    • 11am Bird walk
    • 12pm Bug hunt
    • 1pm Butterfly walk

We advise you to dress for the weather, sturdy footwear and layers are recommended. There are no refreshments or facilities on site, so bring what you need for the day.

For further information on getting to Tice's Meadow take a look at our Visitor Information page. There is no on-site car park, so please park considerately on nearby roads or consider alternative travel options such as lift-sharing or local transport.

Green Volunteering: Bysshe Court Farm

Join us and help care for young trees at Bysshe Court Farm in Horne, a former dairy farm now rearing Aberdeen Angus and Shorthorn cattle. Volunteers will be helping to mulch 2,750 trees planted last winter, giving them the best chance to grow and thrive.

  • Date: Wednesday 29 July and Thursday 30 July
  • Place: Bysshe Court Farm, Chithurst Lane, Horne, Horley, RH6 9JU
  • Time: 10am–1pm
  • Activity: Tree mulching

Refreshments and equipment provided. Toilets available on site.

Heath Week 2026 - Chobham Common Guided Walk

Heath Week 2026 is organised by our friends from the Thames Basin Heaths Partnership and offers nine days of free events. Taking place in the summer holidays, it’s a great chance to explore these unique landscapes, discover local wildlife and history, and get involved in fun activities.

Heath Week 2026 - Pirbright Heathland Safari

Heath Week 2026 is organised by our friends from the Thames Basin Heaths Partnership and offers nine days of free events. Taking place in the summer holidays, it’s a great chance to explore these unique landscapes, discover local wildlife and history, and get involved in fun activities.  Join Surrey Heathland Partnership Project Officer, Tasha Feddery, for a free guided walk exploring the heathlands around Pirbright.
  • Date: Tuesday 28 July
  • Place: Pirbright Heaths, please park in public car park on Avenue De Cagny (opposite the cricket pitch), Pirbright Green, Pirbright GU24. What3Words: trash.waddled.race. Free parking available.
  • Time: 10am to 12pm

This gentle circular walk is approximately 4–5 miles and lasts around 2 hours. Some uneven and undulating terrain is involved, so sturdy footwear is recommended.
