Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2018
Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Section 14(1)

The Surrey County Council Public Bridleway 382 (Cranleigh) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2018 was made to protect public safety due to works being carried out on and adjacent to the path. The Order came into operation on 1 April 2018.

It was due to expire on 1 October 2018. It was continued in force annually by the Secretary of State for Transport until 1 October 2023. It has now been extended again by the Secretary of State for Transport until 1 October 2024 or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier.

The Order as continued will have the effect of prohibiting all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along the section of Public Bridleway 382 (Cranleigh) from its junction with Public Footpath 384 (Cranleigh) at point A (Grid ref: 506800 135789) and running in a south-easterly and then south-south-easterly direction for approximately 700 metres to point B (Grid ref: 507303 135322) at the junction with Public Footpath 385 (Cranleigh). This is shown as a solid red line between points A to B on the closure plan.

The prohibition described above will only be operative while the County Council, or an authorised person acting on its behalf, displays signs prohibiting the said movements.

The alternative route from the northern end is to turn and proceed in a northerly direction along Public Bridleway 382 (Cranleigh) for 118 metres to join Public Bridleway 566, then turn to follow Public Bridleway 566 in a south-south-easterly direction for 788 metres, then turn in a south-westerly direction to follow Public Footpath 385 for approximately 40 metres to re-join Public Bridleway 382 Cranleigh. The alternative route from the southern end is the reverse of the above.
