Surrey Supported Learning offers a wide range of courses for adults with a learning disability. Courses are designed to help learners progress from their individual starting point to build confidence, independence, and social skills for everyday life.
Learners benefit not only from teaching delivered by our qualified tutors and Supported Learning Assistants, but importantly, the support of our volunteers. The outcomes are promising, with our learners continuing onto other courses using the skills they have learnt and practised.
Learners enjoy attending our courses, they are enthusiastic and demonstrate a desire to learn and progress, feeling extremely valued and part of our thriving adult learning community.
On Friday 17th March 2023, learners attending our Pottery Enterprise course, took part in a mini enterprise sale, selling a variety of items to raise money for the learners' chosen charities. The Easter theme included a diverse range of pottery, from spring rabbits and homeware to eye catching necklaces and rings. This popular event was well attended and provided learners an opportunity to highlight their talent and skills.
The Pottery Enterprise course involves using a range of different skills, from making choices together as a team, creating and producing designs, pricing, promoting the event, and managing money. Learners really enjoyed the event and said that it felt like running a mini pop-up shop. A huge thank you to tutor Julia and Supported Learning Assistant Maggie without whom this exciting event would not have taken place.
