Surrey County Council has welcomed a new Ofsted inspection report into its Surrey Adult Learning provision, which found "calm and purposeful study environments". The inspection took place in May this year and concluded that the service continues to be a "Good" provider in all areas.
The Ofsted report noted that "learners and apprentices gain confidence, social and communication skills and reduce social isolation as a result of the programmes they attend" and "benefit from a well-developed curriculum which improves their employment prospects and prepares them for life and work". Inspectors found Leaders have adopted and developed a curriculum which is ambitious in providing access to education and improving social inclusion and mental well-being.
Denise Turner-Stewart, Cabinet Member for Education and Learning said: "I am delighted that Surrey Adult Learning has been recognised with another "Good" grading from Ofsted. It is particularly encouraging to hear inspectors found the service promotes social inclusion well and provides good access to education, which directly supports Surrey County Council's aim to ensure no one in Surrey is left behind. We are determined to support residents with increasing skills and will continue to create new opportunities for everyone. I would like to offer my sincere thanks and congratulations to our team and learners."
Sue, a learner at Surrey Adult Learning said: "I have been going to a Surrey Adult Learning class for over five years and have learnt so much and continue to do so. I have also attended a few other weekly classes and a number of weekend workshops and they have all been taught by experts in their fields. I have, and would continue to, recommend Surrey Adult learning for furthering your knowledge whether for business or pleasure."
Thanks to our learners, tutors and staff.
