Tutor Trisha McKeown has been teaching 'I Can', our course to improve self-esteem, confidence, and positivity, at York Road Project in Woking.
She set an 'action for the week' for learners to carry out before the next class where they had to talk to someone they didn't know. One learner came to the following class with the news that he spoke to someone who runs a gospel choir, and now he's joined up and is taking part in a concert in Redhill.
Community outreach is offered to adults facing life challenges such as long-term unemployment, low income and homelessness. The courses in this free programme provide learning opportunities to help adults who have difficulty accessing learning to navigate towards a brighter future. They cover different aspects of support including confidence building, finances and budget management, wellness and how to approach job searching after some time out of the job market.
