If you are recently unemployed, about to start a job search, want to refresh and hone job searching skills, or want to move forward with your next step, then our free 'Refresh' courses are designed just for you. During these short courses and workshops, you will learn how to stand out and be noticed in a competitive job market, how to prepare for interview success, and build self-confidence. We work closely with partners across the National Careers Service, Jobcentre Plus and local job clubs to ensure your needs are met, and to help impress your future employer.

Preparing to work in schools

This course is for people who are about to, or have recently started, or would like to work in a school or learning centre for young people in a non-teaching capacity, either as a paid employee or as a volunteer. It is also for people who would like to improve their existing skills set and knowledge relevant to their role within a school or other learning centre for pupils or young people.

The course will provide learners with the foundational knowledge and skills necessary to support the learning and development of children and young people in a non-teaching role within a school or other educational setting. The courses are taught by tutors who have experience of teaching in schools. So, if you have a passion for education and want to make a positive impact in your community, this is the perfect place to start!

The course is free for adults aged 19 and over on 31 August 2023 who meet the standard eligibility criteria.
