Sculpture learners attend the annual Surrey Sculpture Society exhibition

Sculpture courses are popular at Surrey Adult Learning. We can offer you bright, well-appointed studios with amazing tutors who are masters of their craft and passionate about sculpture. Learners are encouraged to express themselves in a cheerful atmosphere that provides an inspiring learning experience. People work on their individual projects whilst sharing ideas and 'know how' with each other on the way. The courses bring people together who enjoy this art form and join a network of enthusiasts who share the buzz of upcoming exhibitions, local art news and events.

Sculpture with SAL isn't just about learning, it is also a social activity that brings people together to share experiences, new discoveries, and enjoyment. Sculpture is immersive and an outlet for creative expression. The two- or three-dimensional forms are created by carving wood or stone, metal, plaster or modelling clay. Our 'All Abilities' sculpture classes bring together experienced sculptors and new learners, and the outcomes reach way beyond expectations.

Learners gain skills and progress often exhibiting in local exhibitions. We welcome all adults to get involved.

SAL art learners and tutors recently exhibited their sculpture work at the Landmark Arts Centre in Teddington where stunning sculptures were on put on show in a beautiful cathedral setting. This annual event which is run by the Surrey Sculpture Society, brought together enthusiasts and professional sculptors, including our learners past and present from the Guildford and Camberley Centres.

The Landmark Arts Centre is a transformed 19th century Gothic church. For a week the centre was used as a gallery housing the work of the members of the Surrey Sculpture Society. The range of sculptures was diverse. Sculpture workshops and demonstrations were run for the public, and an educational programme was run for local schools visiting. The exhibition included taster sessions where people could come along and have a go, bringing sculpture to life, whilst meeting affirmed artists.

SAL is proud to share that current learners exhibited at the show: Zaid al Fekaiki, Elizabeth Leyland and Susan Young (Guildford Centre ) and Coralie Slipper (Camberley Centre).

Past learners including Dawn Buckley, Janet Morton and Livia Sponolo. (Guildford Centre)
