Microsoft Spreadsheets Excel - Intermediate

Course intent

You will use the popular Excel software, part of the Microsoft Office suite, to create more advanced spreadsheets, incorporating formatting and functions to automate and design workbooks and worksheets. Excel is a powerful spreadsheet tool which can help you produce personal budgets, record work expenses, present data with colourful charts and graphs and much more on this face-to-face course.

We'll evaluate your skills and provide a course offer, which you must accept to secure your place.

What will we cover?

• Create a spreadsheet

  • Input and format both text and numbers on a worksheet
  • Use mathematical operators (+ / * -) to perform calculations
  • Use basic formula and functions to analyse data
  • Create simple charts from worksheet data
  • Save and print a worksheet template for future use
  • Safeguarding, Prevent and British Values

If you use/have used a different spreadsheet programme, the skills learned here are easily transferrable.

For courses of more than one session, you will find you make the most progress if you attend every taught lesson and complete any self-directed study opportunities provided.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

• Anyone with good computer, mouse and keyboard skills and have a basic knowledge of Excel.

  • If you are new to Excel or spreadsheets, please try our Excel – Introduction or Stage 1 courses first.

As our courses are taught in English, please contact us if you have any concerns about your level of English.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

• A notebook and pen.

Handouts and exercises will be provided.
