Sewing - Draping 2-Day Workshop - Creating Your Own Design - Beginners [SSK]

Course intent

For those who are looking for an understanding of draping and to develop their garment making and pattern cutting skills in a 3-dimensional way.

What will we cover?

The course will cover:

• Demonstrating how to drape an upper body block on the mannequin
• Translating draped block to a paper pattern
• Adapting the block paper pattern to different designs
• Draping a simple dress
• Creating your unique design
• Peer review

  Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

  For beginners and those who wish to understand basic Draping.

As our courses are taught in English, please contact us if you have any concerns about your level of English.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

Please bring:

• 2-3 metres medium-weight calico or similar fabric for draping the toile.
• Dressmaking pins and pincushion probably with a strap that can be fixed on your wrist,
• Fabric and paper scissors, ruler, set squares.
• French curves, tape measure, tracing wheel and carbon paper.
• Pencil (regular, red and blue)
• 1m elastic (1.5-2.5 cm in width).

No other extra costs.

What can I do when I finish the course?

Opportunity to join other pattern cutting and dressmaking courses offered by Surrey Adult Learning.
