French Culture CineClub - L'Auberge Espagnole by Cédric Klapish

Course intent

Join us on the first Friday on the month for our brand-new French cinema club to discover the finest in French film from classics to modern-day masterpieces

What will we cover?

We’ll explore the joys of French cinema with a different film each month. Starting with a short introduction to the film, you will then watch short extracts and take part in a group discussion. You’ll improve your critical thinking skills, learn more about film-making techniques and develop a passion for French film

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

Our lectures are suitable for all abilities. No knowledge of French is required, just an interest in the culture. All films extracts will be shown in French with English subtitles.

As our courses are taught in English, please contact us if you have any concerns about your level of English

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

You will need to watch the film in advance of the class. These are often available to borrow from your local library, to purchase or rent online, or on streaming services.

You are welcome to bring a pen and notebook for taking notes, but most important of all is your curiosity and enthusiasm!

What can I do when I finish the course?

Our French language courses are a great next step, whether you are a complete beginner or advanced speaker. We also offer a wide range of courses on Cultural Studies, as well as other Humanities subjects that may be of interest to further your knowledge
