Creative Watercolours - All Abilities [SSK]

Course intent

Learn to use watercolour in original, beautiful and surprising ways to develop your skills and unlock your creativity.

Enjoy your painting in a friendly supportive environment which draws inspiration from other artists and from the natural world to make beautiful creative projects. This course is suitable for all abilities.

What will we cover?

You will learn:

  • a range of techniques both traditional and experimental to create unique paintings.
  • to experiment with abstract techniques or develop your confidence with watercolour for more realistic paintings.
  • Your tutor will support you with demonstrations, artist examples and one to one support.

As our courses are taught in English, please contact us if you have any concerns about your level of English.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

• Watercolour paints (Such as Winsor & Newton Cotman, please note that only reasonable quality paints from reputable paint brands are suitable, value or simply brands are not worth the trouble)

  • Watercolour brushes (Rosemary & Co sell excellent brushes online. Their Golden Synthetic pointed round series 301 range are competitively priced and excellent quality)
  • Watercolour paper sketchpad (such as CASS 300gsm NOT)
  • Water container
  • Kitchen roll or equivalent
  • Masking tape
  • pencil and sharpener
  • Rubber
  • drawing sketchbook

    What can I do when I finish the course?

    Learners can progress onto other courses with SAL.

The tutor will be happy to assist learners wishing to build a portfolio of work for entry to Further Education or alternative courses of study with other providers.

We welcome learners with additional needs and disabilities. When you enrol, please let us know if you would like to discuss your extra support needs with a member of the Supported Learning Team who will then contact you as soon as possible. If you are enrolling within 10 days of the course start date, we may not be able to contact you before your first class.
