Jewellery & Silverwork – Statement Earrings Workshop - Beginners & Improvers [SSK]

Course intent

You will learn how to make beautiful and bold earrings, using silver, copper and / or brass, perfect for yourself or as a personal and thoughtful gift for someone else. Learn essential jewellery making techniques under the guidance of your tutor and enjoy the well-being benefits gained through working in a friendly, creative learning environment.

What will we cover?

You will practice creating a wide range of different textures on copper sheet and wire and these will all then be used to design your statement earrings.

  • Shaping the metal
  • Using tools and equipment safely
  • Safeguarding, Prevent and British Values
  • The importance of a clean and tidy studio

Learners will be inspired by samples of jewellery brought in by the tutor.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

Beginners and Improvers (those with some jewellery making experience).

An ability to read and follow instructions will be helpful as well as an ability to measure and do simple calculations. Jewellery making involves a lot of fine work so having steady hands will help.

As our courses are taught in English, please contact us if you have any concerns about your level of English.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

Materials and tools are provided.

  • A plain notebook and pencil
  • Wear closed toe shoes
  • Remove long scarves
  • Long hair to be tied back
  • An apron or wear old clothes

    What can I do when I finish the course?

    Learners can progress onto other Arts & Crafts courses with SAL.

The tutor will be happy to assist learners wishing to build a portfolio of work for entry to Further Education or alternative courses of study with other providers.
