Drawing & Painting – Mixed Media Lettering and Collage Workshop - All Abilities [SSK]

Course intent

You will learn how to combine a variety of collaged lettering made with a broad range of tools to create dynamic poster-style cards and images. This is a great opportunity to experiment with tools and materials to produce larger scale hand-made lettering.

What will we cover?

• Using tools and equipment safely

  • Use traditional calligraphic and other alternative writing tools to create lettering
  • Explore backgrounds
  • Explore use of colour
  • Experiment with scale of lettering
  • Try a range of papers
  • The importance of a clean and tidy studio

    As our courses are taught in English, please contact us if you have any concerns about your level of English.

Beginners and Intermediate learners will both benefit from this course.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

• Your usual calligraphy equipment, if you have any

  • Paper towels
  • Pencil and notebook
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Glue stick - repositionable glue if possible
  • Any papers you may like to use from brown envelopes, offcuts of cartridge paper, tracing paper etc.
  • Fine liners of any colour
  • Any art materials/brushes you may own.

Everything else will be supplied, and there will be spare of all required items.

What can I do when I finish the course?

Learners can progress onto other Arts & Crafts courses with SAL.
