Jewellery & Silverwork - Silver Spinning Rings - Beginners & Improvers [SSK]

Course intent

In this workshop you can build basic skills or refine existing skills to create a beautiful silver spinning ring in a day. Inspired by ancient Tibetan prayer wheels, these attractive pieces are said to help soothe the mind, body and soul with their gentle spinning motion.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

Beginners and Improvers (those with some jewellery making experience).

An ability to read and follow instructions will be helpful as well as an ability to measure and do simple calculations. Jewellery making involves a lot of fine work so having steady hands will help.

As our courses are taught in English, please contact us if you have any concerns about your level of English.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

Materials and tools are provided.

  • an apron or old clothes
  • tie long hair back
  • wear closed toe shoes
  • a notebook or sketchbook and pencil
  • you may want to bring a camera to take photographs of your work as it progresses

What can I do when I finish the course?

Your tutor can advise you about further courses of study, including longer jewellery-making courses with Surrey Adult Learning.

You can also join other one, or two-day jewellery workshops which teach specialist topics, or a longer jewellery course to increase your skills, meet people with similar interests and make friends, or even to prepare to set up your own studio!

Your tutor, Katherine, runs a very friendly supportive class on a Monday evening with a good community of learners of all abilities that share a passion for making.
