Course intent
You will learn how to make an artist book in this inspiring mixed-media workshop. You will explore colour, shape, line and texture through creating abstract compositions, curated in a beautifully folded concertina artist book. Enjoy the well-being benefits gained through working in a friendly, creative learning environment.
What will we cover?
• Colour theory
- How to use colour effectively in abstract compositions
- Collage
- Mark making
- Combining collage and drawing approaches
- Basic folded artist book forms
Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?
Beginners and Improvers. This is a mixed ability class, so all are welcome.
What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?
· Pencil
· pens
· rubber
· any drawing media you like such as Neocolor, conte, graphite sticks, colour pencil
· Glue stick
· Assorted coloured paper (at least 20 A4 sheets that are at least 8 different colours)
· Optional – bone folder
· Optional – gold/silver foil leaf with gilding glue.
What can I do when I finish the course?
Learners can progress onto other Arts & Crafts courses with SAL. Your tutor, Camila, is also offering a Life Drawing and Monoprint workshop on the 17th July in Guildford and teaches a term time life drawing evening class in Woking. Camila will be offering further life drawing Saturday workshops in Guildford in the Autumn term.
The tutor will be happy to assist learners wishing to build a portfolio of work for entry to Further Education or alternative courses of study with other providers.
