What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

A clock to work on. Ideally, the clock will have a mechanical (wind-up) mechanism and have a pendulum. A mechanical clock ought to have a pendulum. N.B. - Clocks with small balances (balance wheel) are not suitable as they may have intractable problems, but if you have a spare balance clock, as well as a pendulum clock, bring both along. Any tools to hand/tutor will advise. A notebook and pen. A device for the taking of photographs will be useful to monitor your progress. Suitable containers to put parts in, some small. Plastic boxes with sealable lids are ideal. You will need to purchase clock spares when necessary. If you have any queries, please email the tutor at adultlearning@surreycc.gov.uk
