Flower Arranging – Summer Flower Arrangement Workshop – All Abilities

Course intent

In this workshop you will learn the skills to create seasonal flower arrangements using seasonal material that will enhance your home for the season, and gain the knowledge and skills needed to make beautiful designs that last. Your work will celebrate the beautiful flowers and foliage that grow in early summer. You will also learn useful tips on flower care and feel confident to make further festive arrangements for the home

What will we cover?

• Creating one or two seasonal flower arrangements using flowers particular to the season

• Preparing the flowers and foliage
• Creating a base
• Focal blooms and fillers
• Getting your design right
• Caring for your flowers
• Safeguarding, Prevent and British Values
• The importance of a clean and tidy studio

Learners will be inspired by the contemporary and historical context and will need to keep a sketchbook / notebook to record ideas, processes and progress, and the feedback they receive from the tutor.

There will be demonstrations, instruction, one-to-one tutorial guidance, group discussions and critiques.

To ensure that learners make good progress with their personal learning goals, the tutor will work with the learner on their Individual Learning Plan

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

This course is suitable for all abilities. No previous experience is necessary – just enthusiasm and a love of flowers.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

Equipment:

wear closed toe shoes

• scissors
• bucket for flowers
• plastic sheet or cloth to work on
• small knife
• notebook and pen
• box to take home finished designs

Materials:

Details given on enrolment. You will need to provide your own flowers.

What can I do when I finish the course?

Further short courses and weekly classes are available that cover a range of topics from seasonal specialities to wedding flowers and themed designs.
