Flower Arranging - A Focus on Summer Flowers - All Abilities

Course intent

This short course will celebrate the fresh new flowers that grow in Spring/Summer. You will learn about creating different flower designs, how to keep them fresh and the skills you need to select the best seasonal flowers, foliage and materials for your arrangements.

Enjoy the well-being benefits gained through working in a friendly, creative learning environment.

What will we cover?

• Creating a variety of flower arrangements in both modern and traditional designs

  • Selecting flowers for your designs, learning their names as well as how to look after them
  • Explore colour, form and design to build on your skills which will enable you to create a range of designs suitable for different locations and occasions
  • Safeguarding, Prevent & British Values

Learners will be inspired by the contemporary and historical context of the craft and will need to keep a sketchbook / notebook to record ideas, processes and progress, and the feedback they receive from the tutor.

There will be demonstrations, instruction, one-to-one tutorial guidance, group discussions and critiques.

So that learners make good progress with their personal learning goals, the tutor will work with the learner to complete the required Individual Learning Plan.

For courses of more than one session, you will find you make the most progress if you attend every taught lesson and complete any self-directed study opportunities provided.

What can I do when I finish the course?

Advanced courses are for those who have substantial previous experience, are capable of working quite independently, and who wish to develop with the support and guidance of a tutor.
