Acrylic Painting - Flower Painting Workshop - All Abilities

Course intent

On this one-day workshop, you will develop your drawing and painting skills to create an acrylic painting of lovely seasonal spring flowers such as tulips, irises, pansies or poppies.

What will we cover?

We will be drawing and painting beautiful Spring flowers and you will be shown how to paint and draw petals, leaves and stems from life looking at colour, proportion, form, tone and texture.

Depending on your level, we will examine different methods of painting and drawing (including from a photograph, or similar found image if you do not bring your own flowers with you) and you will gain knowledge and confidence in using acrylic paint.

You will learn some colour mixing and simple colour theory and explore composition establishing a few key methods of drawing and using acrylic paints.

We will discuss and put into context how flowers can be painted by looking at other artists’ work and you will review your work with one-to-one support and group discussion.

The overall aim is to help you to develop techniques and methods on how to set up and compose a painting of a spring flower or flowers of your own choice and then paint it. This workshop could be used as an addition to another longer painting course.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?
