Jewellery & Silverwork - Enamelling Workshop

Course intent

This one-day workshop is an introduction to enamelling – you will learn how to use vitreous enamels on copper and you will be shown different techniques to create beautiful effects.

What will we cover?

The workshop will cover the basics of enamelling. You will be shown a variety of different techniques (including sifting, counter enamelling, wet laying, scrolling, stencils and simple cloisonné, depending on time)

You will have the chance to try out different types of enamel including transparent and opaque, and different finishes - shiny or matte.

Once you have enjoyed experimenting you can then choose your favourite techniques to make a pendant or pair of earrings.

Stencils can be used to add pattern to your enamelled design. You will learn how to apply enamel to copper shapes, and also how to create pattern using stencils to create designs for jewellery, such as brooches, earrings, buttons etc.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

This workshop is suitable for beginners and also for those who have some previous experience of making jewellery and would like to extend their skills to include enamelling. The workshop involves a lot of fine work so having steady hands will help.
