Flower Arranging - Wedding Flowers Workshop - All Abilities

Course intent

Whether you are a beginner or already have some experience of wedding work, you will learn the knowledge and skills needed to make a beautiful, tied posy, a wired flower crown and a buttonhole design. Enjoy the well-being benefits gained through working in a friendly, creative learning environment.

What will we cover?

• We will discuss and explore different seasonal materials that can be used to create beautiful simple designs suitable for the bridal party.

  • How to care and prepare fresh seasonal material ready for bridal work
  • To wire fresh material to a professional standard
  • How to create a Buttonhole suitable for the groom
  • How to create a flower crown for a child bridesmaid
  • Use seasonal materials in construction of a bridal/bridesmaid posy
  • Floristry tips and techniques
  • Safeguarding, Prevent and British Values
  • The importance of a clean and tidy studio

Learners will be inspired by the contemporary and historical context and will need to keep a sketchbook / notebook to record ideas, processes and progress, and the feedback they receive from the tutor.

There will be demonstrations, instruction, one-to-one tutorial guidance, group discussions and critiques.

To ensure that learners make good progress with their personal learning goals, the tutor will work with the learner on their Individual Learning Plan

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

This course is suitable for all levels of ability. No previous experience is necessary. It is suitable for both beginners and for those wishing to refine their technical and design skills..

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

Equipment:

  • scissors
  • bucket for flowers
  • plastic sheet or cloth to work on
  • small knife
  • notebook and pen
  • box to take home finished designs

Materials:

Detail given on enrolment. You will need to provide your own flowers

What can I do when I finish the course?

In discussion with your tutor you may like to progress onto our weekly flower arranging course Flower Arranging - Designs for Summer using different Mediums - All Abilities which starts on the 5th June or enhance your learning on our Saturday and Summer Skills Programme workshops
