Jewellery & Silverwork - Make a Set of Textured Silver Stacking Rings

Course intent

On this one-day workshop you will be shown how to make a set of textured silver stacking rings.

What will we cover?

You will learn the necessary skills to create a set of stacking rings including the measuring, marking, cutting, soldering, texturing and forming the metal.

You will also practice creating different textures on copper wire which, if there is time, can also be formed into a ring or rings.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

Beginners and those who have jewellery-making experience, and who would like to extend their skills are welcome.

As our courses are taught in English, please contact us if you have any concerns about your level of English.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

Please bring a note book or sketchbook and pencil to record the processes and you may want to bring a camera to take photographs of your work.

It is essential that you wear strong closed-toe shoes (not sandals or flip flops). An apron and/or wearing old clothes is strongly advised. Long hair will need to be tied back in the jewellery studio. Please be aware that access to the jewellery studio and nearby toilets is via stairs, and there are also steps inside the studio itself.

What can I do when I finish the course?

Your tutor can advise you about further courses of study, including longer jewellery-making courses with Surrey Adult Learning.

You can also join other one, or two-day jewellery workshops which teach specialist topics, or a longer jewellery course to increase your skills, meet people with similar interests and make friends, or even to prepare to set up your own studio!
