German Survival Skills - Intensive

Course intent

Are you going on holiday this summer and want to pick up some basic language before you go? On this short course, you will learn useful phrases to help you get by on your travels.

Our intensive courses are ideal if you want to progress quickly as they run for fewer weeks with more hours each week.

What will we cover?

This course is designed to teach you practical language that you can use to survive in another country. We will cover:

  • Greetings
  • Numbers 1-100
  • Ordering food and drinks
  • Asking for directions
  • Finding out tourist information

You’ll get plenty of practice in pairs and groups to learn to speak in sentences and develop your listening skills.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

This course is ideal for those with no previous knowledge of the language, as well as those who would like a refresher on the basics.

It corresponds to the lower A1 Beginner level of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) for Languages.

For further guidance on choosing the right level, please complete a self-assessment form, available in the Languages section on the Surrey Adult Learning website.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

Please bring a notepad and pen. There are no additional costs.

What can I do when I finish the course?

We offer a variety of language courses suitable for all abilities and your tutor can advise you on the options available to you. Some of our courses are currently running online and others are centre based.
