Pottery & Claywork - Small Garden Planter Workshop

Course intent

This one-day workshop will focus on making a small Planter with an element of fun, for indoors and outdoors, using hand building techniques.

What will we cover?

Learners will be taught how to hand build a small Planter using a coiling technique. You will also be shown how to texture your Planter and you will have the opportunity to add coloured slip for further surface decoration. Your pot will be bisque fired and clear glazed for you to collect at a later date.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

Beginners are welcome, no previous experience is necessary.

As our courses are taught in English, please contact us if you have any concerns about your level of English.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

It is essential that you wear closed toe shoes (not sandals or flip flops) as there are stairs leading to and in the pottery. Also, please bring an apron & wear old clothes as pottery can be messy.

Your bisque fired work will be ready to collect approximately two weeks after the course finishes. The centre will email you on the email address you have supplied to advise you when it is ready to be collected.

A notepad or sketchbook and pen will also be needed.

Please bring a packed lunch or change for the café. All other costs are included.

If you have any queries please email adultlearning@surreycc.gov.uk

What can I do when I finish the course?

You also have the opportunity to join a longer Surrey Adult Learning pottery course or attend other pottery workshops.
