Creative Writing Workshop - Plotting A Novel

Course intent

We’ve all heard that there is a novel inside each of us, but how do we go about writing it?

One of the most important elements of a novel is the Plot and this course will help you understand how to create a strong, cohesive plot structure to build your idea around

What will we cover?

• We will use the Three Act Structure as our framework because it is the best known and most used plot structure. Once you have understood how to work with it, you can apply the methods to any other structure you like.

  • We will cover how to assess ideas, settings and characters as well as ways to create a plot outline and strategies to deal with the enormous and unwieldy task that is writing a novel.
  • The day will be a mix of presentations, exercises and discussions designed to help you explore how you want to approach Plotting a Novel.
