Notice

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Section 14(1) and (2)
The Surrey County Council
Public Footpath 391 (Dormansland)
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023

The Surrey County Council Public Footpath No. 391 (Dormansland) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023 was made by reason of danger to the public due to a void under the footbridge compromising the structure.

The Order came into operation on 30 May 2023 and was due to expire on 30 November 2023. It was then extended in force by the Secretary of State for Transport until 30 May 2024, then extended for the second time by another 6 months to allow for repairs to be carried out and has now been extended for the third time by the Secretary of State for Transport until 30 November 2025 or until completion of the works, whichever is earlier.

The Order as continued will have the effect of prohibiting all traffic on foot or any other means from entering or proceeding along that length of Footpath 391 (Dormansland) from point A (Grid ref. 539294 144089) in an easterly, then north-easterly direction, for 160 metres until point B at its junction with Footpath 389 (Dormansland). This is shown as a solid black line between points A and B on plan no. 3/1/129/H15.

The temporary closure will only be in operation when appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on site by the County Council or an authorised person acting on its behalf. Access to properties will not be affected.

The alternative route from the western end of the closure is to proceed north on Station Road for about 400 metres, before bearing right onto Rushfords and continuing onto Footpath 388 (Dormansland). Proceed along Footpath 388 in a generally easterly direction for about 350 metres until you reach the junction with Footpath 389. Bear right and in a southerly direction for about 220 metres until you meet the eastern end of the closure.

Dated: 21 November 2024
