Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023

The Surrey County Council Public Footpath 12 (Guildford)/T706 Beech Grove Footway Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023 was made by reason of danger to the public due to an unsafe bridge over the railway line.

The Order came into operation on 26 July 2023 and was due to expire on 5 January 2024. It has now been continued in force by the Secretary of State for Transport until 5 January 2025 or completion of the works, whichever is earlier.

The Order as continued will have the effect of prohibiting all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along the length of Public Footpath 12 (Guildford)/T706 Beech Grove Footway at Park Barn railway footbridge (Grid ref: 497521, 150187) between Footpath 12 Guildford/T706 Beech Grove Footway at the rear of the Tesco Superstore, and Greville Close.

The temporary closure will only be in operation when appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on site by the County Council or an authorised person acting on its behalf. Access to properties will not be affected.

The alternative route around the closure from southern end of the closure is: Proceed in a westerly direction along T706 Beech Grove Footway (the path behind Tesco) to reach Egerton Road. Turn right onto Egerton Road and proceed in a northerly direction to the roundabout. At the roundabout, turn right onto Southway and proceed in an easterly direction to the junction with Greville Close. Turn right onto Greville Close and proceed in a southerly direction to the northern end of the closure. The alternative route around the closure from northern end of the closure will be the reverse of the above.
