Microsoft Word Processing - Stage 3 (Online)

Course intent

You will use the popular Word software, part of the Microsoft Office suite to develop and enhance your skills and knowledge of word-processing to create professional letters, CVs brochures, flyers, cards, mailshots and much more. See below for topics covered.

How to Apply

There are three ways to apply on this course. You can:

  • complete the form on our website;
  • call us on 0300 200 1044, 9am to 3pm Monday to Friday; or
  • visit one of our centres.

We'll evaluate your skills and provide a course offer, which you must accept to secure your place.

What will we cover?

• Referencing features and creating tables of contents

  • Fields, forms, and templates
  • Mail merge and macros
  • Master documents and subdocuments, watermarks, sections, headers and footers
  • Text and paragraph formatting – Indents, Tabs and Borders
  • Page layout – Headers, Footers and page numbering Section dividers
  • Creating and formatting tables
  • Safeguarding, Prevent and British Values

Although this course is delivered for Microsoft Word you can transfer your skills to other word-processing software such as Google Docs, Apple’s Pages, WordPad or the free online version of Office.

To ensure you make good progress with your personal learning goals, the tutor will work with you to complete the required Individual Learning Plan.

Where this course consists of more than one session you will find you make the most progress if you attend every taught lesson and complete any self-directed study opportunities provided.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

• This is a follow-on course for anyone who has used word-processing before but wants to improve their skills.

  • You must be able to use a computer to save and find files and already possess mouse and keyboard skills.
  • If you are completely new to word-processing, you should look at our “Word-processing – Word – Stage 1” or “Word-processing – Word – An Intro” courses first.

This course will be delivered through live online sessions using Zoom

To fully participate in this course, you will need:

  • An email address
  • A reliable internet connection
  • A computer/laptop /tablet with a fully updated browser,
  • microphone and webcam.

Once enrolled on this course you will receive detailed instructions for taking part online

As our courses are taught in English, please contact us if you have any concerns about your level of English.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

• You will need access to a computer/laptop/tablet with a reliable internet connection

  • Working microphone, and webcam
  • If you struggle to read printed text on a screen, you may find it beneficial to have access to a printer to make your own hard copies of resources.
