Pilates Summer Taster (Online) [SSK]

Course intent

Pilates is a great way to build up your core strength and improve flexibility to keep you healthy and active. It focuses on alignment, breathwork and core stability. All of which makes it a fantastic stress-buster! Whatever your level of experience your tutor will ensure you are able to work at the right level for you.

What will we cover?

On this one-off summer session, you will focus on improving your posture, strength and flexibility through a series of (mainly) floor-based exercises. The tutor will give you variations for each exercise suited to your own level of experience and ability. You will be introduced to work on the core muscles to protect the spine in everyday movement and ensure the body is correctly aligned.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

This session is open to everyone of all abilities. We welcome absolute beginners and learners already enrolled on our courses. The tutor will ensure it is the right level for you. This taster is taught in English.

You will be asked to complete a Pre-Exercise Check List at the start of the course so that the tutor knows your current health needs and abilities. If you have mild to moderate health/mobility issues, your tutor should be able to suggest adaptations to enable you to enjoy the benefits of this summer session.

This is an online course - you will need:

  • An email address
  • A reliable internet connection
  • A computer/laptop /tablet with a fully updated browser

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

Wear comfortable clothing which allows a full range of movement, e.g. raising the arms above the head and bending over/crouching down. Yoga is practised with bare feet. Bring extra layers and/or a blanket for relaxation. You will need a non-slip yoga mat, either bring your own or borrow one of ours. Bring a water bottle, we have fountains to refill.

For the Zoom lesson: you will need access to a computer/laptop/tablet with a reliable internet connection, working microphone, and webcam. If you struggle to read printed text on a screen, you may find it beneficial to have access to a printer to make your own hard copies of resources
