Cookery Workshop - Caribbean Barbeque with Christine

Course intent

Caribbean cuisine is a fusion of African, Creole and Latin-American influences, blended in a unique way, bold and full of flavour. The intent of this course is to introduce you to the ingredients, skills,& techniques of West Indian cookery, using recipes that are healthy, tasty and easy for you to reproduce at home

What will we cover?

You will learn how to cook traditional Caribbean dishes from scratch, using fresh ingredients and traditional spices and flavourings. You will learn the techniques and skills that will enable you to recreate these authentic dishes. 1. Pork Jerk 2. Caribbean marinade for grilled fish 3. Mango Chow 4. Piña colada tart

Your Tutor will demo homemade Caribbean BBQ sauce with chicken wings and her ultimate Caribbean fruit punch – all for you to taste & enjoy. Bring your devices to capture the demo and take notes.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

This course is suitable for a wide range of abilities, but not complete beginners. Less experienced or confident cooks can limit the number of dishes.

This course is suitable for vegetarians and any specific dietary requirements. Christine will suggest alternative ingredients.

You will be required to meet hygiene and safety requirements, including frequent handwashing, and cleaning your own working surfaces and equipment. As our workshops are taught in English.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

Learners will be asked to supply the key ingredients for this workshop. You will receive an email before the start of the course, informing you of the ingredients and equipment you will need to bring with you. It is important to wear clothes and footwear suitable for a busy, hot kitchen. Face coverings are optional.

Within your booking information you will receive a link to a food intolerance and allergies form. It is important this is completed before the workshop. This information is important for your own wellbeing and will ensure the tutor can plan alternative ingredients or recipes where necessary
