French Beyond Beginners - Conversation Add-on (Online)

Course intent

Are you already part of a language course, but want more speaking practice? This short course offers an ideal opportunity for learners already enrolled on a course with us to build their confidence speaking the language in a more informal setting.

What will we cover?

This course is tailored to the needs and interests of the class. There will be some structured activities to practise and develop your speaking skills, as well as opportunities to build confidence making social conversation.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

This session is for learners who have been attending a Beyond Beginners language course with Surrey Adult Learning. Please check the level and language of the course carefully before enrolling to ensure that you join the correct class.

This course will be delivered through live online sessions using Zoom, enabling you to interact with the tutor and other learners, to maintain your speaking and listening skills.

To fully participate in this course, you will need:

• An email address
• A reliable internet connection
• A computer / laptop / tablet with a fully updated browser, microphone and webcam.

Once enrolled on this course you will receive detailed instructions for taking part online.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

For the Zoom lesson: you will need access to a computer/laptop/tablet with a reliable internet connection, working microphone, and webcam. If you struggle to read printed text on a screen, you may find it beneficial to have access to a printer to make your own hard copies of resources.

Please bring a notepad and pen. Your tutor will advise you of any other required materials.

What can I do when I finish the course?

We offer a range of conversation classes that can be taken alongside your regular course to give you more practice.

Additional information

This course does not qualify for an Education and Skills Funding Agency subsidy, so no concessions are available.

We welcome learners with additional needs and disabilities. When you enrol, please let us know if you would like to discuss your extra support needs with a member of the Supported Learning Team who will then contact you as soon as possible. If you are enrolling within 10 days of the course start date, we may not be able to contact you before your first class.
