Cookery with Confidence

Course intent

Would you like to create delicious meals for everyone in your family? Then this is the course for you. We intend for this to be a sociable and enjoyable cookery course, ideal for anyone who enjoys trying new recipes and ingredients for all ages and palates

What will we cover?

The intent of this course is for you to learn and practise the cookery skills involved in preparing savoury main dishes, starters, sides and desserts. You will cook a selection of dishes, which will include meat and fish recipes as well as desserts and baking. We intend to provide you with the skills, techniques and confidence to reproduce what you would like to cook and serve in your own kitchens long after the course.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

This course is suitable for all abilities, from beginners to those with more knowledge and experience of cooking. Less experienced or less confident cooks may be encouraged to limit the number of dishes they prepare.

This course is suitable for vegetarians and those with any specific dietary requirements. The tutor will always be able to suggest alternative ingredients.

As our courses are taught in English, please contact us if you have any concerns about your level of English

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

The course fees do NOT include the cost of ingredients, and you are responsible for supplying your own ingredients for the lessons. You will receive an email before the start of the course, informing you of the ingredients and equipment you will need for your first lesson. Your tutor should be able to suggest alternative for both ingredients and equipment, so discuss any concerns with them.

Please ensure you bring your own apron, tea-towels, a pen and reading glasses (if you use them), so that you can read and make notes on the recipes. It is important to wear clothes and footwear suitable for a busy, hot kitchen

What can I do when I finish the course?

This course continues throughout the year, with skills and levels of skill improving during that time.

Following this course, in discussion with your tutor, you could progress on to other cookery courses that we offer. We have a range of cookery and baking courses available, throughout the year
