Oil & Acrylic Painting - Experimental Techniques - All Abilities

Course intent

The course will introduce you to both oil and acrylic painting methods through the use of sketchbook, photographs, researched images, using modern and traditional approaches and direct observation.

What will we cover?

• Develop individual skills in tone, colour and composition

  • Researching & inspiring other artists work
  • Gaining confidence in using both Oil & Acrylic materials
  • Get creative with your painting
  • Have access to one to one support
  • The overall aim is to help you discover and develop your abilities through a mixture of practice, discussion and demonstration techniques

Where this course consists of more than one session you will find you make the most progress if you attend every taught lesson and complete any self-directed study opportunities provided.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

This course is particularly good for those painters who like to experiment and try something different, and to be encouraged to develop a more creative approach.

For adults aged 18 years or older.

As our courses are taught in English, please contact us if you have any concerns about your level of English.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

Bring whatever Oil or Acrylic materials you may already have, a pad of A3 cartridge paper, soft grade of pencils (4B or 6B), charcoal, soft rubber. For oil paint, please use low odour solvents such as Zest-It or Sansodor.

All materials and resources you will need through the course will be discussed at induction.

What can I do when I finish the course?

In discussion with your tutor, you may like to progress onto further art courses.
