Drawing - Just for Relaxation - All Abilities

Course intent

You will learn the basic elements of drawing. You will learn to use techniques and skills to enable you to get more creative in your drawing

What will we cover?

• Basic sketching skills

  • Investigating line-tone and texture
  • You will learn basic composition and perspective
  • Practice techniques
  • Gaining confidence in using drawing materials
  • Have access to one to one support
  • The overall aim is to help you discover and develop your abilities through a mixture of practice, discussion and demonstration techniques

Where this course consists of more than one session you will find you make the most progress if you attend every taught lesson and complete any self-directed study opportunities provided.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

For Beginners and Improvers and for those learners who will enjoy learning a set of techniques - from those with little or no experience of drawing to those who have practised before, but need a refresher to get motivated again

For adults aged 18 years or older.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

Learners are expected to bring their own materials. Some less common or unusual materials may be brought in by tutor or instruction given on where you can purchase items.

The materials and resources you will need through the course will be discussed at induction but you will be required to have the following items for the first lesson…

  • A tin of mixed grade pencils from hard to soft. Coloured pencils are also recommended. The best brands include Caran D'Ache.
  • A Drawing Pad (A4) or Sketchbook
  • Notebook & Pen
  • A pad of coloured/toned paper
  • A tablet eraser (WH Smith)

You will need to complete some course documentation to help assess your progress.

What can I do when I finish the course?

In discussion with your tutor, you may like to progress onto further Arts and Crafts Courses.

We welcome learners with additional needs and disabilities.
