Upholstery Workshop - Seat Weaving

Course intent

You will learn the traditional craft of Chair Caning, Rush seating and Danish cord. Enjoy the well-being benefits gained through working in a friendly, creative learning environment

What will we cover?

• the basic techniques of seat weaving.

  • cane a small frame or in the case of Rush and Cord
  • work on your own chair.
  • You will learn about the tools used and be able to demonstrate their safe use.
  • Safeguarding, Prevent and British Values

As our courses are taught in English, please contact us if you have any concerns about your level of English

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

• A chair that needs a woven seat

  • Tools to include:
  • A packed lunch and drink or drink bottle to fill with water

Cost of specialist materials will be paid to the tutor in cash on the day of the course.

What can I do when I finish the course?

The skills learnt during the day will enable you to embark on your own chair project at home, or attend a longer upholstery course in the future
