Bridge - Advancers - Year 1 - Term 3

Course intent

Refine your skills, knowledge, and expertise in this fascinating and analytical card game. At this stage in your Bridge playing, you may be thinking of joining a local Bridge club and this course will allow you to make the most of such opportunities, extending your technique and playing skills.

The intent of this course is to prepare players for both social and competitive Bridge, joining a Bridge club or league.

What will we cover?

Some or all the following will be included during the course:

  • demonstrate your bidding knowledge and application of the ACOL bidding system
  • demonstrate improved playing skills
  • play more competitively
  • show high level defensive skills

Our courses build on past learning, week by week, to develop new skills and abilities. You will find you make the most progress if you attend every taught lesson and complete any self-directed study opportunities provided.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

This course is most suited to those who have completed 3 years of structured Bridge courses. If you are unsure of your level, please discuss the suitability of the course with the tutor before enrolment.

You may be asked to study independently for 10 minutes a day.

As our courses are taught in English, please contact us if you have any concerns about your level of English.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

You may be required to purchase an English Bridge Union (EBU) textbook. Please discuss this with your tutor at the first lesson before buying any books.

What can I do when I finish the course?

Our Bridge courses are planned to provide a clear pathway for progression, through the academic year, and beyond.

You may also be thinking of joining a local Bridge club or league, and your tutor will be able to provide information and guidance on doing so, and on other external learning opportunities that may be relevant to you.
