The intent of this course is to enable you to develop confidence and skills to communicate effectively both socially and at work.
What will we cover?
This course will be delivered through live online sessions using Zoom.
To fully participate in this course you will need:
An email address A reliable internet connection
A computer/laptop /tablet with a fully updated browser (preferably Google Chrome), microphone and webcam.
Once enrolled on this course you will receive detailed instructions for taking part online. You will learn about lip shapes and tactics to help you manage difficult listening situations.
Practise and develop your lipreading skills and strategies for face to face communication.
Find out about equipment, organisations, and research relevant to hearing loss.
Share experiences of hearing loss in a supportive environment.
You will make the most progress if you attend every lesson and complete any self-directed study recommended by your tutor.
Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?
Suitable for mixed abilities, beginners welcome. No previous knowledge is required. Start at any time of year.
As our courses are taught in English, please contact us if you have any concerns about your level of English.
What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?
You will need to bring a pen, folder, and a notebook.
What can I do when I finish the course?
You will have opportunities during the term to discuss further learning with the tutor and curriculum team.
