Surrey Adult Learning

Whether you want to learn a new skill, progress your career or take a course to help you and your household with the cost of living, there are lots of opportunities provided by the council to build on your skills.

Surrey Adult Learning provides hundreds of courses and workshops for adults of all abilities. There is something to suit everyone - you could pick up an art or craft class, learn a language, gain a new skill for work, or enjoy some physical activity or cooking classes.

Improve things by starting something new

Coping with the cost of living is challenging, but we have courses and workshops available to help you get back into work, live healthier, boost your mental health, look after your family and more. These are run both online and at our seven centres in Surrey.

Multiply

Multiply offers free maths courses to help adults in the local community boost their numeracy skills.

Our workshops are for adults aged 19 and over who don't have Maths GCSE at Grade C /4 (or equivalent) and live in Surrey. The workshops are designed to help you with lots of things, whether you need help with;

  • managing your bills,
  • budgeting,
  • improving your potential at work, or
  • your children and their homework

Supported learning

There are also courses available to help develop independent living skills for adults with learning disabilities, in a collaborative and creative environment. These courses are designed to;

  • gain independence
  • develop communication skills
  • develop decision making and problem-solving skills
  • engage with and participate in the community
  • provide opportunities to maintain physical and mental well-being
  • develop English, maths and digital skills
  • enhance employability skills
  • gain confidence to make friends and develop social skills
  • acquire skills which have a positive impact on everyday life
