A pleasant circular route from the car park, off Shores Road, through woodland and heathland to the sandpits at the centre of the Common. The sandpits are the landing place of the Martians in H G Wells' "War of the Worlds". The path
is wide and generally level with no steep gradients, suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs.
