Public Footpath 184 (Windlesham)
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023
On 12 October 2023 Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned temporary order, the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along the length of Public Footpath 184 (Windlesham) at the M3 Bagshot Heath footbridge over the M3 Motorway between Ordnance Survey Grid reference: 491334, 162314 and 491377, 162240.
The Order is necessary on the grounds of public safety due to the footbridge over the M3 Motorway being declared unsafe by National Highways. An emergency closure 21 day closure has been in place since 2 October 2023.
The closure will be in operation from 23 October 2023 until 2 April 2024. That period will then need to be extended further by the Secretary of State for Transport.
The temporary closure will only be in operation when appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on site by the County Council or an authorised person acting on its behalf. Access to properties will not be affected.
There is no suggested alternative route around the closure.
The Surrey County Council Public Footpath 184 (Windlesham) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023 was made by the County Council under Section 14(1) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
