Footpath 392 (Horley, Salfords and Sidlow)

Notice

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Section 14(1) and (2)
The Surrey County Council
Public Footpath 392 (Horley/Salfords and Sidlow)
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023

On 10 November Surrey County Council made a temporary order to prohibit all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along the length of Public Footpath 392 (Horley/Salfords & Sidlow) where it crosses the railway line, approximately 180 metres to the east of its junction with the A23/Bonehurst Road, Horley (Grid ref. 528596, 144843).

The Order is necessary by reason of the likelihood of danger to the public due to the surface of the railway crossing becoming damaged and unsafe. It will be in operation from 10 November 2023 until 10 May 2024 or until completion of the works, if earlier, and while the relevant notices are displayed. The Secretary of State for Transport can extend this period if required. An existing 21 day emergency closure has been in place since 25 October 2023.

The temporary closure will only operate while the County Council, or an authorised person acting on its behalf, displays signs prohibiting the said movements. Access to properties will not be affected.

The alternative route from the western end of the closure will be: Turn around and proceed in a south-westerly direction to reach A23/Bonehurst Road. Turn left onto Bonehurst Road and proceed in a southerly direction to reach the junction with Ladbroke Road. Turn left onto Ladbroke Road and proceed along Ladbroke Road, then Langshott in an easterly direction to reach the junction with Orchard Drive. Turn right onto Orchard Drive and proceed in a northerly direction to reach the junction with Footpath 392. Turn left onto Footpath 392 and proceed in a westerly direction to reach the eastern end of the closure. The alternative route from the eastern end of the closure will be the reverse of the above.

The 'Surrey County Council Public Footpath 392 (Horley/Salfords and Sidlow) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023' was made by the County Council under Section 14(1) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
