The Surrey County Council

Temporary Prohibition Of Traffic Order 2024

On 22 February 2024 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned temporary order, the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along that length of:

  • Public Footpath 32 (Epsom & Ewell) which extends for about 282 metres in south-easterly direction from point A at its junction with Public Bridleway 146 (Epsom & Ewell), (Grid ref: 520396 157566) to point D, at its junction with Public Bridleway 33 (Epsom & Ewell) (Grid ref: 520669 157489), and which is marked by a solid bold line on plan no. for about 282 metres in south-easterly direction,
  • Public Bridleway 33 (Epsom & Ewell) which extends from point B, at its junction with Public Bridleway 146 (Epsom & Ewell) (Grid ref: 520567 157760) for approximately 720 metres in south-easterly direction through points C and D and to point E, at its junction with Public Bridleway 47 (Epsom & Ewell) (Grid ref:520931 157170), and which is marked by a solid bold line on plan no. 3/1/76/H50.

The Order is necessary on the grounds of public safety due to construction works being undertaken on or near the highway. The closure will be in operation for a period of six months from 22 February 2024 or until completion of the works, if earlier. That period can be extended by the Secretary of State for Transport if required.

The temporary closure will only be in operation when appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on site by the County Council or an authorised person acting on its behalf. Access to properties will not be affected.

Suggested alternative route: from point A proceed for 250 metres north-east on Public Bridleway 146, which runs parallel to Langley Vale Road, then at point B turn south-east onto a track running parallel to Public Bridleway 33, through point C, to its junction with Public Bridleway 127 at point F, as marked by a thick broken black line on plan no. 3/1/76/H50.

"The Surrey County Council Public Footpath 32 (Epsom & Ewell) and Public Bridleway 33 (Epsom & Ewell) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024" was made by the County Council under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
